Which way does the fuel filter go on?

90 ford bronco.....have the fuel filter but don't know which way it goes. one side is round shaped like and the other is flat; both with spouts/connectors for the fuel line. does the round side face towards the front of the truck with the flat side facing the back? cylinder canister, flat bottom, oval shaped top with connections for the fuel line
