My dad was outside spraying for ants when he starts to stumble and he said he was dizzy and tired?

he started having difficulty breathing.he stops to relax but it doesn't help. He starts turning blue. on the hospital his breathing is very slow and his speech is slurred. he ate some old beef stew earlier that day but it didnt smell nor look bad...what is goin on?
